Local, National, Global CPD Programme
Local, National, Global is a new CPD programme from Devon Development Education for Learning Communities or whole school staff to develop global learning and build community cohesion. Our aim is to inspire teachers and teaching assistants to help prepare young people for the global challenges of the 21st Century and to build community cohesion – local, national and global.
Global Teachers Award
A new national Global Teachers Award (GTA) has recently been launched by the Consortium of Development Education Centres.
The Award aims to support teachers in developing skills, confidence and practical approaches to incorporate global learning into the curriculum and promote informed, active global citizenship with pupils. The Award consists of a series of training courses with the one-day Level 1 course launched in autumn 2011 and Levels 2 and 3 to be offered in 2012.
Teacher Professional Development Workshops
Devon Development Education has put together a package of workshops to inspire teachers and teaching assistants with a wide variety of cross-curricular and subject-specific global learning opportunities from Foundation to KS4. Workshops for Children and Young People
DDE runs a number of events and training aimed at young people themselves: Model United Nations is a great opportunity for realistic and meaningful role play for KS4/5 pupils; Global Citizenship for All offers a programme of workshops and support for children with Special Educational Needs in mainstream schools; and every year we run schools conferences during Fairtrade Fortnight (Feb/March) giving children the opportunity to meet and learn from a Fairtrade producer. ...
