Global Teachers Award
A new national Global Teachers Award (GTA) has recently been launched by the Consortium of Development Education Centres.
The Award aims to support teachers in developing skills, confidence and practical approaches to incorporate global learning into the curriculum and promote informed, active global citizenship with pupils. The Award consists of a series of training courses with the one-day Level 1 course launched in autumn 2011 and Levels 2 and 3 to be offered in 2012.
DDE now has four validated trainers who will be delivering the Level 1 course. Each Level 1 course consists of 2 half days plus a twilight. Both courses will be held at the Global Centre, Berkeley House, Dix's Field, Exeter, EX1 1PZ.
Details for the first two Level 1 courses are as follows :
Course 1: Wednesday 22nd February and Wednesday 7th March 2012, 9.15am - 12.30pm
Course 2: Tuesday 12th June and Tuesday 26th June 2012, 9.15am - 12.30pm

The Award will investigate and explore different models of what education is for; identify different frameworks of global learning; explore issues of diversity; focus on critical literacy; investigate what we mean by active global citizenship and identify tools that can be used to know if global learning is having an impact in the classroom and school.
