Global Book Club

Venue: Room 207, Roland Levinsky Building, Plymouth University

The Global Book Club will be taking a look at a piece of contemporary history that has affected many Plymouth residents. Sherard Cowper-Coles served as a senior diplomat for Britain in Afghanistan between 2007 and 2010. His memoir tells the story of the many people who worked to bring peace to a troubled country: Afghan and British, civilians and soldiers. Among them were Plymouth’s 42 Commando Royal Marines, who served tours of duty in Afghanistan in 2009 and 2011. The meeting is free to attend and there is no need to book. Everyone is welcome, and a summary will be available for those who haven’t been able to read all of the book.
