The
New Build 2007

|
The New Build Uganda 2007
will construct facilities for an established secretarial training
school in the troubled Gulu District of Northern Uganda. Volunteers
will travel from the UK to help with the construction work during
the summer months. Volunteers will pay all of their own expenses.
All the money donated to the project will be used directly in
Uganda for the construction work.

Food for Thought
|
|
Children are learning
to feed themselves and their families through the Food For
Thought School Linking Programme in rural Uganda.
By using
organic methods, teachers, children and families are learning to
regenerate
exhausted soils,
conserve rainwater and grow beautiful, nutritious food crops.
Using
these methods they will be able to feed themselves for a lifetime
- and earn some income by selling any surplus. To find out more

The Global Centre |
The Global Centre aims to raise awareness
of global issues with schools and the community. It provides a focal
point for individuals, groups and schools interested to explore the
links between our lives in Devon, Plymouth and Torbay and those of
people and environments throughout the world. It is home to Devon
Development Education and has a programme of events and activities
throughout the year. In 2006 it was awarded the Global Learning Award
in recognition of the community education opportunities offered by
the Global Centre.
