Stand Up 2012
Thursday, 02 February 2012
Now in its fourth year, February sees the annual Stand Up fundraising appeal to help finance decent sanitation - toilets and clean water - for Food for Thought link schools in Uganda
It is well documented that many girls in Uganda do not complete their primary school education because of poor access to toilets, and lack of privacy, clean water and bathing facilities. All the money raised by Stand Up goes towards the renovation, repair and building of these facilities in Ugandan schools.
If your school would like to take part in Stand Up, to introduce your pupils to the issues of water and sanitation in many of the world's poorer countries and to help add to the fantastic £15,000 already raised by schools and Council Services across Devon, please contact us.
Find out how one student in Cornwall is raising money for Stand Up and increasing awareness with her peers about issues of sanitation in Uganda.
Further information, teaching resources, assembly ideas and updates on the work done so far in Uganda can be found here. DDE can also offer speakers to visit your school and talk about the issues and the successful work of Stand Up in Uganda.
