Coping with Conflict

CWC-sitelogoThis curriculum development project was funded by the Department for International Development (DFID). The project offered the opportunity to explore conflict and its impact from the personal to the global and used a Thinking Skills or Philosophy for Children approach. Teachers and pupils were able to develop their knowledge and understanding of the issues through interaction and discussion with peers in Northern Uganda, Hebron and City Academy Bristol.

Throughout this period the students and teachers involved in the project contributed materials, activities and ways of tackling the issues involved in 'coping with conflict'. Student Conferences evolved as one of the main ways of engaging with the themes, while activities were developed and tested back in the classroom.

The Coping with Conflict website contains full details of the project and is a one-stop shop for teachers and students looking at the themes of conflict and peace. The site contains many free down-loadable school activities with links to other providers of resources on issues related to conflict.
