Cultural Champions
The Cultural Champions programme is an innovative programme designed to raise awareness in schools of the diversity of people in the UK.
Living in a part of the country with historically low numbers of people from ethnic minorities, school children can lose out on the multi-cultural experience that is taken for granted elsewhere in the country. Cultural Champions aims to fill that gap.
We have a group of 16 Cultural Champions, from a wide variety of cultures and backgrounds, all trained and experienced in working with children, all with enhanced CRB disclosure.
Feedback from schools is overwhelmingly positive, for example:
'Thank you for a most energetic and stimulating session on Tuesday and seamlessly delivered. You will be pleased to hear that at the end of the afternoon the staff ended up in the staffroom eating their way through the different snacks which provided a lovely stimulus to share the morning's sessions.'

Youth Cultural Champions
This programme has been developed in partnership with Devon EMA service and individual schools around the county. We give secondary school students a shorter version of the Cultural Champion training, and they then run sessions about their culture in primary schools or with governors or with other groups.
