Dr Alex Fairfax-Cholmeley will talk about his current research into the slave-led revolution in the French Caribbean during the 1790s, which turned France's prized colony of Saint-Domingue into an independent nation state: Haiti. 

Alex is Senior Lecturer in European History at the University of Exeter, with research and teaching interests in the eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century Transatlantic world – in particular the interconnected histories of the Haitian and French Revolutions (c.1789-1804).
