Christmas Appeal 2024

Training visit to Kulika’s Training Centre for Garden Teachers

Agriculture is on the primary school curriculum. But usually it is taught by rote in the classroom with little practical activity. In the Food for Thought rural government schools, the two Garden Teachers are given practical training in sustainable organic growing – making organic fertilisers and pesticides; digging contour ditches to trap soil and rainwater run-off; propagating seeds and plants.

This appeal is to fund a training visit to Kulika’s Training Centre for 13 Garden Teachers from 13 schools in Tororo and 13 from Mubende. The cost is £84 per person, for three days’ training, transport, and two nights’ accommodation.

Food for Thought has organised two previous training visits in 2023 and 2024 – both had a significant impact on teachers, pupils and parents.

Our Christmas Appeal is to help fund this training visit. We are grateful for any donation you are able to give. If this is a Christmas gift for family or friends, please let us know.
